Theme & Sub-themes

The theme for the Workshop is "Distance Learning in the Global Network Community 2008".
Sub-themes include Topic:

Conducting a study and research on the contents of the distance learning.

  1. Determining the topics, contents and the timeframe required in organizing the distance learning via the videoconferencing system, which is the common agreement among various institutes in foreign countries under a joint academic collaboration.
  2. Formulating the structure and learning environment for the distance learning among institutes in foreign countries by using the videoconferencing system and website resources and environment.
  3. Presenting the content via the teleconferencing system, in the case that there are more than two distance learning classrooms conducted in foreign countries at the same time.

Conducting a study and research on the techniques of the distance learning via video-conferencing system

  1. In terms of the quality of network connection - the bandwidth capacity used, the connection speed and gateway for the distance learning system, and so on, in order to acquire a stable network connection and to guarantee a smooth learning environment throughout the academic courses.
  2. In terms of the displayed video quality – featuring clarity and employing the presentation techniques to display the image of the teacher and the content together on screen; presenting the images of the classroom environment from all classrooms in foreign countries to foster the sense of closeness as if learning from the same classroom.
  3. In terms of audio quality – using the techniques to minimize the noise from the surrounding areas, ensuring the appropriate clarity and loudness in the voice of the lecturer in each classroom.
  4. Consideration in selecting the broadcast and streaming system for the distance learning that is appropriate for the distance learning project.
